PRIVACY STATEMENT

Edward James Properties Pty Ltd A.C.N. 129 528 025 and its related corporations (“EJP”) is committed to ensuring your privacy when you deal with EJP.  EJP, at all times, seeks to comply with the Privacy Act and the National Privacy Principles.  Please read this statement to understand how your personal information will be treated when you deal with EJP.  This policy may change from time to time, so please check back periodically.

As well as the provisions of this Privacy Statement, including the detailed matters below, there may also be specific and additional privacy provisions which also apply to specific transactions you may have with EJP.  Because those specific and additional provisions also relate to your privacy protection, you should review them whenever they are accessible to you when dealing with EJP.  In the event of any inconsistency between the provisions of this Privacy Statement and those other specific and additional provisions, the specific and additional provisions will apply.

What information we collect

The information which EJP collects about you will depend on your relationship with EJP.  EJP understands and appreciates that you are concerned about your privacy and the confidentiality and security of information EJP may gain about you.  EJP also recognises that information which you provide to EJP may be personal or confidential.  EJP does not and will not sell, provide, trade or lend your information to others without your permission.

EJP only collects personal information about individuals which is reasonably necessary to provide quality products or services to them, to consider applications and approaches to EJP, or to maintain contact details for those with whom EJP deals. EJP does not generally collect sensitive information about individuals unless required by applicable laws or rules. Sensitive information includes information about race, political or religious beliefs, sexual preferences, criminal convictions and health information.

How the information is used

EJP only uses and discloses personal information about individuals for the purpose for which it was disclosed, or related purposes which would reasonably be expected, without the permission of the individual. EJP may send to its customers information about other EJP products and services which EJP expects may be of interest to them, but respects their right to ask EJP not to do this. EJP does not sell personal information to other organisations to allow them to do this. EJP may disclose personal information to service providers who provide services in connection with its products and services. Such service providers may also send you information about their products and services which they expect may be of interest to you. EJP may provide information about its customers to their nominated financial adviser, with their permission.

Keeping information secure

EJP uses procedures to protect the information it holds. Access to personal information and the use of the personal information within EJP is appropriately limited within EJP to prevent misuse or unlawful disclosure of the information. If other organisations provide support services, EJP requires them to appropriately safeguard the privacy of the information provided to them. Where the personal information EJP collects is no longer required, EJP deletes the information or permanently de-identifies it.

Using EJP’s website

When you visit EJP’s website, your visit will be recorded certain information (including your server address, the date and time of your visit to EJP’s site, the pages you accessed and documents you downloaded) will be logged.  This information is gathered to help diagnose any problems that may arise with EJP’s service, to administer its sites and for statistical purposes.  EJP will not make any attempt to identify users or their individual browsing activities.

If you send an email to us

EJP preserves the content of any email you send to it when EJP believes it has a legal requirement to do so.  Any personal information, including your email address, which is included in your email, will be used or disclosed in the manner set out in this Privacy Statement.  Your email address will only be used for the purpose for which it was provided and will not be added to a mailing list or used for any other purpose without your consent.

Any email containing suspected non-business or inappropriate material may be reviewed by EJP’s email administrator and not delivered to the addressee.

EJP does not provide facilities for the secure transmission of information across the Internet.  Users should be aware that there are inherent risks in transmitting information across the Internet.

Requests to access or correct personal information

All requests to access or correct personal information should be in writing and forwarded to the Privacy Officer at PO Box 585, Toowong, Qld, 4066.

If EJP is not required to provide you with access to, or to correct your personal information for some lawful reason, EJP will tell you why this is so.

If EJP provides you with access to your personal information, it reserves the right to charge you for any costs incurred by it in the provision of this information.

If you believe the information EJP holds about you is not accurate, complete or up to date, then you may seek to have the information corrected by writing to the Privacy Officer at the above address, specifying why you believe the information is not accurate, complete, or up to date.

Queries and complaints

Most queries can be sorted out over the phone, but if EJP is unable to help you immediately, you may be asked to put your question in writing and forward it to the Privacy Officer (PO Box 585, Toowong, Qld, 4066).

The Privacy Officer will review your request or complaint and, where necessary, refer it to the appropriate Company Senior Executive.  EJP will reply to you within 28 days of receipt of your letter.

EJP always seeks to resolve any complaints to the satisfaction of all concerned.  However, if you have followed the steps outlined above and are not satisfied with the outcome, you may be able to take the matter to the Office of the Federal Privacy Commissioner.  The Office of the Federal Privacy Commissioner is a federal government agency established to support the Federal Privacy Commissioner in promoting an Australian Culture that respects privacy.
